ENCORE'S LINE UP FOR THE 2008
SEASON FEATURES "AMERICAN IDOL"
by Pilot News
PLYMOUTH - Encore Performing Arts
has announced its lineup for the coming season and it includes an
"American Idol."
Luke Menard was a contestant on the Fox hit reality series this season. He
is also featured in an accapella group called
"Chapter 6" that will be performing in Plymouth on December 1.
"We had no clue that he was on the show when we booked them,"
said Karen Schlosser of Encore. "We'd been trying to book an acappella act for several years and we heard them and
saw they were very good and kind of fun. We tried to book them last year.
"Then when the show came out they had a highlight segment on him of
things that you might not know about the performers, he mentioned he sang
with an accapella group."
Chapter 6 with Luke Menard will take the stage in Plymouth on Dec. 1. The rest of the
lineup is a great one with John Ford Coley (July 3), a singer actor and
author who was a former member of a Grammy nominated duo with England Dan,
Chantilly Lace (June 27) and oldies group that has appeared in concert with
many other famous acts, and Shilo (July 25), a
country band that has had a recent hit.
"When we saw (Shilo) as part of a local
showcase with (WNIT) channel 34 we decided to we had to get them,"
said Schlosser. "They've since had a big hit, quite their day jobs and
signed with an agent but they agreed to honor our agreement for this year
and we're very happy."
A jazz ensemble from the South Bend Symphony also promises to be a great
evening. Vibe Nation (July 11) was a hit the last time they took the stage
in Plymouth.
"They are a wonderful time," said Schlosser. "We tried to
get them back last year. It's a very educational program as well as a great
jazz evening."
Classical violinist Aaron Weinstein (Oct. 14) along with classical
guitarist Frank Vignola and local acts Jan Wagoner & the Left Hand
Rockers (June 13) and George Schricker (July 18) round out the lineup.
